Lonnie V. Newton

Lonnie was born February 21, 1937 and passed away March 30, 2003. He was a career classical and jazz musician – performing at local venues, regional and national jazz festivals. He played trombone in the Kansas City Symphony during the 1960’s and later joined the Mutual Musicians Foundation while it was still the American Federation of Musicians 627. He became a board of directors’ member at the Mutual Musicians Foundation, band leader, lounge manager and Gold Card membership at the Foundation and AFM 34-627. He had several piano students to include pianist Toni Oliver.
